Thomas King
Mental Health Counseling Intern
Often, one begins therapy if they are feeling not fully in control of their lives. This lack of control can be the result of difficult life circumstances, crises, or simply the internal sense that things aren’t quite right. Whatever the case may be, therapy can help. I provide a reflective, caring space where we work together at uncovering a deeper understanding of the feelings and difficulties that you are facing. I believe in giving clients the time and space to examine their experiences and reconnect with their internal sense of balance. From there, we can discover practical and actionable solutions to better navigate the day-to-day. My approach integrates various theories such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, and Jungian Theory.
Prior to working in the mental health field, I was a teacher. I worked in various school settings, such as Waldorf education and international schools. Working as a therapist is a life-long dream of mine and it is an immense privilege to be able to do so. I received my Bachelors in English from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2016, and I am currently pursuing my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of The Cumberlands. In my free time, I enjoy reading, movies, martial arts, and traveling.
